The MINI Cooper Roadster represents an extremely lively entry point into the Roadster line-up. Its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine boasts a fully variable valve control system – based on the VALVETRONIC technology used in BMW engines – which sharpens the engine’s responses yet also lowers fuel consumption and emissions. With output rising to 90 kW/122 hp at 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 160 Newton metres (118 lb-ft) generated at 4,250 rpm, the powerplant accelerates the MINI Cooper Roadster from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 199 km/h (124 mph). Its average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle stands at 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres (49.6 mpg imp), while CO2 emissions come in at 133 grams per kilometre.

In addition to fully variable valve control, MINI TwinPower Turbo technology also features a twin-scroll turbocharger and petrol direct injection – a technology package that makes the 1.6-litre engine in the MINI Cooper S Roadster the world’s most efficient in its displacement class. The powerplant develops its maximum output of 135 kW/184 hp at 5,500 rpm. Peak torque of 240 Newton metres (177 lb-ft) is available as low down as 1,600 rpm and can hit 260 Newton metres (192 lb-ft) in a short burst courtesy of the Overboost function. All of which means the MINI Cooper S Roadster powers from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.0 seconds on the way to a top speed of 227 km/h (141 mph). These performance figures contrast with average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 6.0 litres per 100 kilometres (47.1 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 139 grams per kilometre.

The latest model variant from MINI’s John Cooper Works sub-brand showcases its sporting potential with even greater intent. The MINI John Cooper Works Roadster is powered by a 155 kW/211 hp four-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology. The 1.6-litre unit generates its maximum output at 6,000 rpm, with peak torque of 260 Newton metres (192 lb-ft) on stream at 1,850 rpm. The Overboost function briefly pushes this figure up to 280 Newton metres (207 lb-ft). 6.5 seconds is all it takes the MINI John Cooper Works Roadster to blast from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph). Top speed is 237 km/h (147 mph). Added to which, with average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres (38.7 mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of 169 grams per kilometre, the MINI John Cooper Works Roadster boasts extraordinary efficiency for an open-top car in this output class.

Leading the way in terms of torque and economy, the 2.0-litre diesel engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo technology under the bonnet of the MINI Cooper SD Roadster is the ideal addition to the range of petrol units. The four-cylinder powerplant features an aluminium crankcase, a turbocharger with variable intake geometry, and common-rail direct injection with solenoid-valve injectors, and develops 105 kW/143 hp at 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 305 Newton metres (225 lb-ft) between 1,750 and 2,700 rpm. All this allows the MINI Cooper SD Roadster to dash from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 212 km/h (132 mph). The diesel Roadster headlines its outstanding efficiency with average fuel consumption of 4.5 litres per 100 kilometres (62.8 mpg imp) in the EU test cycle and CO2 emissions of 118 grams per kilometre.

The MINI Cooper Roadster and MINI Cooper SD Roadster are equipped as standard with extensive MINIMALISM technology. This further reduces their fuel consumption and emissions thanks to features including Brake Energy Regeneration, the Auto Start/Stop function, Shift Point Display, Electric Power Steering and ancillary components working according to need. The MINI Cooper Roadster, MINI Cooper S Roadster and MINI Cooper SD Roadster can also be specified with an optional six-speed automatic gearbox with Steptronic function as an alternative to the six-speed manual item fitted as standard across the MINI Roadster range.

Inspired by the upcoming limited edition 2012 Tacoma TRD T|X TRD Baja Series coming next year, the Long Beach Racers Tacoma will be competing in the 2011 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 with former freestyle motocross rider racer Andy Bell behind the wheel. 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia Milano by DMC

DMC celebrates the official premier of it’s 458 Italia “Milano” at the SEMA Motorshow 2011. Creating 610 hp vs. the regular 570 from the 4,5 L V8 engine makes anybody forget that this is the smallest of Ferraris currently available. Torque was increased from 540 Nm to 569 Nm, giving you that extra push upon starting your journey. And betold journey may be over sooner than you think, because DMC’s Italia is faster than 330 KM per hour, compared with the 325 km/h of the house stallion.

The newly designed 458 Italia exhaust system is made from t309 grade stainless steel and has performance driven 4-2-1 headers, and valved exhaust. To complete the optical package, DMC presents a combination of 21″ and 22″ rims (9Jx21 front / 12Jx22 rear) that are meant to control the newly added power and carbon lightness of the car. As for Pneus, DMC is offering VA 255/30 ZR 21 and HA 335/25 ZR22 respectively, rounding up a perfect styling package for the 458 Italia.

2012 Novitec Rosso Ferrari 599 SA Aperta

NOVITEC ROSSO now makes the drop-top version of the Ferrari 599 SA Aperta even more powerful and fascinating. A twin-supercharger conversion bumps power output of the V12 from standard 670 to 888 hp and boosts peak torque to 636 lb/ft, giving the two-seater a top speed of more than 211 mph. The NOVITEC ROSSO options for the limited-edition special model also include extremely lightweight NOVITEC ROSSO forged wheels in a staggered combination with diameters of 21 and 22 inches, sport springs and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with butterfly valve.

The power increase by 218 hp to 888 hp at 8,400 rpm means the two-seater now offers power that is as superlative as its new peak torque of 636 lb/ft at 6,600 rpm, a gain of 178 lb/ft over its production brethren.

Together with the F1 Superfast six-speed transmission the NOVITEC ROSSO bi-compressor version delivers exceptional performance. From rest the car sprints to 62 mph in just 3.1 seconds. After 9.1 seconds it reaches a speed of 124 mph; the 186 mph barrier shatters after 21.9 seconds. Top speed is in excess of 211 mph.

The body of the Ferrari SA APERTA is refined by NOVITEC ROSSO in a few details. Supplemental GTO-style front spoiler lip, side skirts and rear fascia that match the look of the front fascia of the special model are installed on the car. All clear-coated carbon-fiber components come with a matte finish for a true racing look. Further understated highlights are added by the NOVITEC ROSSO black lamps that are available for all 599 models. The set includes tail lamps, third brake light, rear fog lamp and side markers.

2013 Volkswagen Passat CC

The new Volkswagen CC will be revealed to the public in a world premiere at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show (November 18 to 27). The market launch phase begins shortly thereafter. Volkswagen will first offer the new CC in Germany in February 2012, then in stages across Europe, America, Russia, China (local version starting in 2013) and all other sales regions relevant to this vehicle class.

With new front and rear styling, the new perfected Volkswagen CC makes an even bolder move towards the automotive luxury class. Its extended range of standard features has become more exclusive as well; they now include new bi-xenon headlights, static cornering lights and a new LED tail light design. Also standard: fatigue detection, RCD 310 radio-CD system, stainless steel door sill plates and safety head restraints with additional longitudinal adjustment (front seats).

The Volkswagen CC will be powered by innovative petrol and diesel direct-injection engines; all of the diesels (TDI) are equipped with a Stop/Start system and battery regeneration mode (for recovering braking energy) as standard. All petrol engines also have battery regeneration functionality. The TDI engines output 103 kW / 140 PS and 125 kW / 170 PS. The petrol engines of the European CC versions develop a sporty 118 kW / 160 PS, 155 kW / 210 PS and 220 kW / 300 PS of power. In the USA, the Volkswagen will once again launch with petrol engines that output 147 kW / 200 PS (TSI) and 206 kW / 280 PS (FSI). All engines go to work with excellent efficiency. A prime example is the 140 PS TDI. Together with a manual six-speed gearbox, its combined fuel consumption is just 4.7 l/100 km (equivalent to 125 g/km CO2).

The Peugeot 208 gives form to and refines the new aesthetic codes of the Marque. ‘Floating’ grille, light signature, ‘boomerang’ rear lamps – each detail is designed in complete harmony with the balance of the car, structured by a ’spine’ the impression of which is even visible on the roof. Sculpted, athletic, pure and sophisticated, its style projects the Marque towards a renewed and attractive modernity, suggesting sensuousness and energy, smoothness and mischief. The two body styles have been given entirely different treatments, with the style of the quarter panel of the three-door version recalling one of its illustrious older siblings.

The Peugeot 208 comes with five models, four of which are equipped with the new generation Stop & Start System (e-HDi), the diesel range starts at 87g/km of CO2 (delivering fuel economy of 83.1 mpg) and never exceeds 99g! The Peugeot 208 introduces a new range of 3-cylinder petrol engines, 1.0- and 1.2-litre VTi, which are particularly efficient, with a range starting at 99g/km of CO2 (delivering 65.7mpg).

The new Peugeot 208 will be launched in mainland Europe in the spring and for the UK in the summer of 2012.

Built on a Toyota Tundra full-size pickup, DC Shoes used valuable feedback from their Motocross athletes to help create a truck that had everything a rider needs to make an event trip easier. They took this input and passed it along to West Coast Customs who performed the build.

West Coast Customs used a Tundra Double Cab 4×4 equipped with the powerful 5.7-liter V8 and six-speed electronically-controlled transmission with intelligence. The truck also features Tundras standard bed and is a certified Flex Fuel vehicle.

An array of modifications were built into this special Tundra enabling it to tackle the roughest terrain and it’s equipped with everything a Motocross rider requires. Toyota will display a pre-production Tacoma Toyota Racing Development (TRD) T|X (Tacoma Extreme) limited edition pickup truck at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The T|X Baja Series is currently undergoing final testing for application on both the Tacoma Access and Double Cab 4×4 models equipped with the TRD Off-Road Package. Expansion to include PreRunner models is also being considered. The Tacoma T|X Baja Series is equipped with a 4.0-liter V6 engine with either six-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmissions. In addition to an electronically-controlled locking rear differential, Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) currently equipped on the TRD Off-Road package, the limited edition T|X Baja Series adds BF Goodrich T/A KO tires (LT265/70R16) and bead-lock style off-road wheels with an exclusive Gun-Metal Gray finish, TRD Cat-back Exhaust, increased front ride height of nearly two inches and unique Baja Series graphics.

The front suspension has been upgraded to include 60mm piston Bilstein race shocks with TRD coil springs that feature a protective zinc plated body and a one inch increase in wheel travel. The rear suspension is equipped with 50mm piston Bilstein race shocks with a remote reservoir to increase shock oil capacity for greater heat dissipation and damping sensitivity. The new model Mustang, which goes on sale in spring 2012, offers a more aggressive design with a significantly more prominent grille. A more powerful splitter adds to that appearance. Functional heat extractors on the hood of the GT were specifically placed and designed to help move hot air out of the engine compartment and cool the engine.

The 2013 Mustang with 5.0-liter engine will now deliver 420 horsepower. Based on learnings from developing the high-output 444-horsepower Mustang Boss 302, the team was able to adapt several of the designs to the 5.0-liter.

The new Mustang can be specified with a six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission. This advanced control strategy offers the driver a choice between fully automatic operation and manual control. The system is controlled with a selector button on the side of the shifter. The shifter has been upgraded for 2013 with more modern style and improved accessibility.

The new Mustang offers a revamped wheel lineup, ranging from the standard 17-inch wheels for V6 all the way up to 19-inch optional wheels on the GT and V6 Performance Package. With updated designs, the wheels also offer new finishes and touches for a more powerful appearance.

The 2012 Mustang offers customers selectable steering that tailors the driving experience to fit their needs. With a choice of three settings, the feature allows the customer to select the steering effort, depending on his or her style of driving.

Sport mode provides the most road force felt through the steering wheel and requires the highest level of steering effort, allowing the driver to be more in tune with how the vehicle reacts to the road. Comfort mode provides the least amount of road force felt through the steering wheel and requires the least amount of steering effort, which is ideal for long, relaxing drives.

A standard mode also is available and is a balance between the comfort and sport settings. The settings are accessed and programmed through the message center.

Also new for 2012 are illuminated dual visor vanity mirrors, a universal garage door opener and multipurpose sun visor storage. And it is Lamborghini’s clear objective to ensure that it will be the fastest single-brand series in the world – partly due to the technical superiority of the all-wheel drive principle. From May the Super Trofeo will make guest appearances at six race events – at Silverstone (UK), on the Adria Raceway (Italy), on the Norisring (Germany), in Spa (Belgium), in Barcelona (Spain) and in Monza (Italy).

Lamborghini is building 30 cars for the Super Trofeo, which they are making available to individual enthusiasts, as well as to Lamborghini dealer teams. The factory will enter one car for itself, and plans to commission well-known guest drivers to take the wheel. The Super Trofeo race car is based on the Gallardo LP 560-4, powered by the new 5.2 litre V10 with direct fuel injection (IDS), generating an increased output of 419 kW (570 hp). Its power flows through the e.gear six-speed robotized gear box to the permanent all-wheel drive with viscous traction – the kind of power transmission perfectly suited to motorsport.

The Super Trofeo is a top-class race car in every detail. Its chassis, featuring double wishbone suspension all round, has been reworked specifically for the purpose. The competition tyres are supplied by Pirelli and a specialist racing brake system provides brutal stopping power with racing ABS. Additional body components such as the large, fixed rear wing are made from carbon-fibre composite. The rules are straightforward. Either one or two drivers per car can register for the series. On Friday, there are two 30-minute sessions, of which one is a qualifying session. The first race takes place on Saturday, with two further races during the race weekend. Each race lasts approximately 40 minutes and the results are added together. No additional weight penalty will be imposed on the most successful vehicles. The cars may not be modified during the season – all relevant components – engine, transmission and chassis – are marked accordingly.
